    How to use it

    1. Type the item price and the shipping the buyer pays. Add gift wrap if you offer it.
    2. Type your costs: materials, packaging, the shipping label and your time if you want to count it.
    3. Say whether the order came from an Offsite Ad, and whether your shop is in the lower or higher Offsite Ads rate.
    4. Read the payout and the profit, with each fee shown separately.

    The fees Etsy charges

    • Listing fee: a small fixed fee per listing. It renews when the listing expires or when an item sells, so a listing with several units pays it again for each extra unit sold.
    • Transaction fee: a percentage of the item price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge.
    • Payment processing fee: a percentage plus a fixed amount, calculated on the total the buyer pays, including tax. The rate depends on the country of your bank account.
    • Offsite Ads fee: when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and buys within the attribution window, Etsy charges a percentage of that order, up to a cap per order. Shops above a yearly sales level cannot opt out and pay a lower rate.
    • Currency conversion: if you list in a currency other than your bank's, Etsy charges a conversion fee.

The current US rates are in the table above, with the date they were checked and a link to Etsy's help pages.

Shipping is not free for you on Etsy: the transaction fee is charged on it too. If you move part of the shipping into the item price for free shipping, the total fee stays about the same, but the buyer sees a simpler price.

    Pricing handmade work

Etsy sellers often underprice because they count materials but not packaging, fees and time. Type your hourly rate as part of the item cost, then switch to target price mode and set the margin you want. The calculator returns the lowest price that reaches it after every fee.

What the calculator does not include

    • Etsy Ads you run inside Etsy, which are billed separately from each sale.
    • Etsy Plus or other subscriptions.
    • Refunds, cases and returns.
    • Regulatory operating fees that apply to shops in some countries outside the United States.

    Questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

A listing fee, a transaction fee on the item and shipping, and a payment processing fee on the total. If the sale came from an Offsite Ad, there is also an Offsite Ads fee. The current rates are in the table above.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge, and the processing fee applies to the whole order total.

Can I turn off Offsite Ads?

Shops below a yearly sales threshold can opt out. Above it, Offsite Ads are mandatory, at a lower rate. You only pay when an ad leads to a sale.

Is this the exact amount Etsy will pay me?

It is a close estimate. Ads, refunds, currency conversion and rounding can change the final amount. Check your Payment account for each order.
