How Whatnot charges sellers
- Commission: a percentage of the sold price, which depends on the category. Whatnot has also run reduced rates for high-value orders and for sellers with high volume.
- Payment processing: a percentage plus a fixed amount, calculated on the order total, which includes shipping and sales tax.
- Shipping: the buyer pays it, and Whatnot provides the label.
The current rates are in the table above, with the date they were checked and the source.
Auctions starting at a very low bid can sell below cost. Use the break-even price as your floor before you start a show.
What the calculator does not know
- Promotions, volume tiers or reduced commissions your account may qualify for.
- Giveaways, buyer appreciation items and the shipping you cover for them.
- Refunds, cancellations and disputes.
